The Tokyo Sake Challenge 2025 brought together professional Sake Sommeliers from all around Japan and overseas for it’s first competition in Tokyo earlier this year. They set out to evaluate the amazing brews the participating Sake Breweries entered into the competition and as a celebration of this as well as to give people the chance to taste these beverages “Japan Life” brought together sake lovers, industry professionals and the media to raise a toast.
This year Japan Life, was an exclusive gathering designed to foster connections within the sake community. A unique space for both Japanese and international sake professionals to mingle, network, and enjoy sake in a warm, convivial atmosphere.
One of the highlights of Japan Life was the remarkable diversity of sake – for the first time in a Sake Challenge, not only Japanese Sake but also International Sake Breweries, including Craft Sake and Doburoku, were featured. A real delight as these brews were also available for guests to try, along with all the fabulous domestic sake entries.
This pioneering event was made possible thanks to the close collaboration between the SSA, the support of the participating breweries, the sponsors, the organizers Cindy Bissig and Giulia Maglio, the incredible volunteers, and all the guests who joined the event.
